Senior Director of Corporate Affairs, Communications & Industry Relations

Agnes Hübscher is Senior Director of Corporate Affairs, Communications & Industry Relations at Edmund Optics, where she works at the intersection of photonics, industry, communication, and international collaboration. She has been part of the optics and photonics industry since 2001 and brings more than two decades of experience in global marketing, communications, business development, and industry relations.

Originally from Jena, Germany, a city with a long tradition in optics, Hübscher studied Business Administration with a focus on intercultural communication, marketing, and international business and completed an apprenticeship with SCHOTT. She began her career in investor relations for a life-science laser company before joining SCHOTT, where she held positions in sales, marketing, communications, and investor relations. In 2007, she took over leadership of the global marketing activities for SCHOTT’s optics division. She joined Edmund Optics in 2013 and has since held several senior international marketing and strategic roles within the company.

Beyond her corporate career, Hübscher is actively involved in strengthening and connecting the international photonics community. She serves on the SPIE Board of Directors for the 2024–2026 term and has contributed to numerous SPIE committees, including the Strategic Planning, Symposia, Nomination, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committees. She has also chaired SPIE’s European Advisory Committee and has been involved in initiatives supporting women and greater diversity in optics and photonics.

In 2026, Hübscher was named an SPIE Fellow. She also serves on the board of the SPECTARIS Photonics Association, where she contributes to the development and visibility of the German photonics industry. Her long-standing commitment to connecting research and industry, strengthening international cooperation, and increasing diversity and visibility within photonics makes her a strong advocate for the global optics and photonics community.
